Meet the Exodus Files' Staff

The staff at Exodus Files is a savvy group of current and former collegiate debaters. All of the employees of exodus files are dedicated to crafting the best arguments possible for you.

Chief Executive Officer - Alex Turley

Turley debated four years at Hutchinson High School, and four years at Emporia State University. Turley was formerly the Assistant Director of Debate at Emporia High School. As a debater, Turley read arguments ranging from space colonization to counter-narratives.


Chief Finance Officer - Alex Rickard

Alex debated four years at Newton High School, and three years at Emporia State University. Alex was a lab leader at the Cameron Speech and Debate Institute. As a debater Alex's arguments ranged from policy arguments to Dark Deleuze.


Chief Marketing Officer - Squid Monteith

Squid debated four years at Silver Lake High School and is a second-year debater at Emporia State University. Squid is a board member and lecturer at the Women's Debate Institute, and has read a diverse range of arguments from framework to queer theory. 


Stategic Marketing and Program Development Consultant - Kelly Thompson

Kelly Thompson is an award-winning coach from Kansas. He has coached teams to late elimination rounds of both the NCFL and NSDA/NFL National Tournaments, in addition to being recognized as the 2013 and 2017 Kansas Debate Coaches Invitational Coach of the Year, and the 2013 Kansas Speech Communication Association Educator of the Year.


Primary File Producer - Ian Beier

Ian is currently an assistant debate coach at the University of Kansas. From 2013-2015 he was the assistant director of debate at Damien High School. During that time, his team made a finals appearance at the NSDA tournament, went to octofinals of the NDCA tournament, and participated in deep elimination rounds at several national tournaments. Prior to his time at Damien, he was the Assistant Director of Debate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.


Primary File Producer - Sam Smith

Sam debated at Kapaun Mount Carmel in High school and did three years of policy and two years of LD. During HS, they did both lay and flow styles of debate and produced a surplus of files for the UTNIF 2014-15 camp and the KU 2013-2014 camp. Sam debated at NSDA in LD their junior and senior year. They did policy for their first two years in college at Kansas State and now predominately engages in British Parliamentary Debate.
